Google Apps [FINALLY] is out of beta (yes, really)

GMAIL HAS FINALLY GONE GOLD.


Seems like after five years of “rigorous beta testing” Google’s online application suite has finally left it’s “beta” phase. Yes, now boys and girls, you don’t have to worry about being perceived as one of those bleeding-edge geeks to use products like GMail, and Google Calendar.

Get in there fast though, because it seems like in the nearly nine hours of the Google online application suite going Gold, many prospective (and even obscure) usernames have been already taken by hungry users.

More seriously though; with next generation communication tool projects like Google Wave and Google Voice coming out in the near future, it made little sense for the Online Emperor to continue to devote new-development type resources to fully vetted products.

It might also have something to do with the fact that since it’s launch in September, Google’s browser, Chrome, is deep into version 2 and finally seems mature.

If you’re like me and you miss the little beta tag on Gmail, there appears to be a “fix” on Google Labs that shows the viewer the original, loveable beta Gmail logo:
