Facebook Introduces Facebook Lite to the U.S.
Facebook Lite’s up and running for US and India customers. We’ve played around with it and find it…kinda light— a great thing for anyone who misses Facebook’s ease of use. FB Lite’s interface is not only clearer and more straightforward than its big brother has become, but it moves MUCH faster from click to screen load, which is really appreciated if you’re on it to just check up on statuses.
The new interface is no doubt a welcome addition for netbooks and older machines with sub-2ghz processors and less than 2gb of RAM since the normal interface has a pretty hefty footprint. In fact, the advent of FB Lite brings up some questions about the social media giant. The fact that their AJAX everywhere site’s become so clunky that they percieved a market for and created a product that’s a limited version of their already-free service could be the basis for many an in-depth discussion about Facebook’s future. We wonder where they see themselves in ten years but understand that by creating FB Lite, Facebook’s working hard to keep from becoming outated, overly clunky and stale.
